Registration for 2024-2025 at PS 20 will open on Wednesday, July 10th at 11:00 am!

EFNY Classes will start on Wednesday, September 18th 2024, and end on Wednesday, June 11th 2025.
EFNY follows the DOE Calendar.
As spots are limited, registration is on a first come first served basis.

 Classes Description:

French for Native Speakers 

Jeunes Francophones 1st grade-2d grade – This class is open to fluent in French students who can read in English and will be reading and writing in French. In this class, all activities are conducted in French. Students will reinforce the acquisition of reading, and writing and start to develop grammar skills. Attention will also be focused on developing a rich vocabulary and a clear verbal expression.

Moyens & Grands Francophones 3d to 5th grade -This class is open to students who are truly fluent in French, and focuses on verbal and written expression, grammar and spelling. In this class, all activities are conducted in French. The students read longer texts and consolidate their bases in grammar, spelling, conjugation and vocabulary. Emphasis is placed on written expression: namely write short varied texts (dialogue, fiction, description, portrait). Children are encouraged to read independently.  

 

French as Second Language    

French as Second Language 1st to 3d grade – This class focuses on verbal communication and is adapted to the comprehension skills of young learners. The goal is to bring children to express simple phrases in basic social situations, through various and fun activities such as stories, creative projects, songs and games.

 


The EFNY program follows a French-only policy in all Native Speakers classes, and students from these classes will have weekly assignments for efficient progressPlease help us with this by encouraging your child to follow these rules.
